I purchased this unit for the intention of using it for backcountry hiking trips and figured it was probably a waste of money, as I would never use it. I think I paid around $60-70 CAN for it. It features a shockproof and waterproof case and has USB connectivity. I am not certain on the battery specs but do know it was quoted as being able to recharge my I-phone entirely 4 times – and I don’t think that would be far-fetched. It also has a digital readout for the battery life remaining which I love because it clearly lets me know if I need to charge it or not. Also, once charged, it NEVER loses charge until you actually plug something into it to and charge an accessory. I use it for many different purposes including hiking trips, sled trips and also take it to work sites where power sources may not be readily available.
Around a month ago, I took it with me on a sledding trip out of town and didn’t actually use it on the trip. Once I returned home, I was unable to find the unit when I unpacked my gear. A week later while walking through my yard, I noticed a yellow blotch in the packed snow along my driveway…and sure enough it was my Brunton! It was intact and undamaged! I brushed the snow off and pressed the button to display the battery remaining and it was still at 100% after a week of very cold temperatures exceeding – 30 degrees Celsius! I was impressed!
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this product again. Well built and well designed…. two thumbs up to Brunton from SledZEROS!!
